Stop, breathe and get out of your own head: these are the three good habits that can not only change the way we live our daily lives, but also radically transform our approach to work. Three seemingly simple principles, but it’s good to dust them off every now and then, in order to be able to clear our minds and start again, even more energised than before.
This is the philosophy behind the CLEAN & THINK elmec days, a well-established tradition which, once a year, slows down the pace of our company and allows the whole team to ‘do some housekeeping’–not only with things, but also–and above all–thoughts.
The day of 18 March was dedicated to this thoughtful but very practical initiative, which for years has allowed us to take a break from the innate frenzy which is typical of our valleys. In addition to the well-established moments of cleaning and maintenance, this year’s event was enriched by a special mindfulness course in the company designed specifically for working environments and offered to employees of the elmec offices.
This is a special meditation technique that aims to promote greater awareness of oneself, one’s relationship with the working environment and one’s role within the company. Mindfulness is a special meditation technique that aims to promote greater self-awareness and focus on the ‘here and now’, of one’s relationship with one’s working environment and one’s role within the company.
This special shared activity was carried out under the attentive guidance of Isfor trainers. It gave the members of the elmec team ideas for a profound change: in addition to encouraging the emergence of new energy to be channelled into achieving work objectives, it gave everyone new ideas for improving their contribution to the company ecosystem.
Our efficient production departments, on the other hand, dedicated themselves to their appointment with the cleaning of spaces and the maintenance of mechanical equipment, operations always carried out, however, with an active psychological involvement. In fact, it is not only the machinery that needs regular maintenance, but also our minds, which need to be emptied, oiled and repaired in order to function better and with renewed efficiency.
During this yearly extraordinary moment, the employees of the various departments exchange positions and points of view, identifying themselves for a few hours in the role of colleagues to understand the complexities of their tasks and find new inspirations and fruitful contaminations–and why shouldn’t they?
Our CLEAN & THINK days aim to give the whole team new tools to improve themselves, allowing them to live their in-company life with ever greater calmness and participation.
