Aluzinc: characteristics and processing
Aluzinc is a state-of-the-art material that represents a significant evolution in the field of metal alloys. It is an alloy whose main components are aluminum and zinc that once applied on a steel layer give rise to an innovative material, with exceptional technical characteristics and wide versatility of use.
It is a reliable choice, able to combine resistance, durability and superior performance. In this study we will explore what exactly Aluzinc is and what makes it unique, analyzing its composition, the properties that distinguish it and the advantages it offers compared to other traditional materials.
Aluzinc : what is it and what are the advantages?
Aluzinc is an alloy composed mainly of aluminium and zinc. Specifically, the Aluzinc components are formed by a steel layer on which a coating made of:
- an aluminum alloy (55%);
- zinc (43.4%);
- silicon (1.6%).
Continuous hot coating processes are used to make Aluzinc products, which create output of surprising quality.
The characteristics of aluzinc:
The mechanical components made of Aluzinc take advantage of all the advantages of this material, to create highly resistant, strong and useful products in many fields of industrial application.
What are the most important advantages of aluzinc?
- Excellent corrosion resistance, which in tests is 2 to 5 times better than that of hot galvanized steel.
- Abrasion resistance, which makes Aluzinc products suitable for use in particularly aggressive and challenging environments.
- Excellent light and heat reflectance, which allows this material to withstand temperatures even above 315 ¹C, without compromising on its surface.
- Possibility of simple painting, thanks to a high performance adhesion between paint and aluzinc foil, even without specific pretreatment.
- An exceptionally pleasant appearance: the brilliant, smooth and uniform surface of aluzinc products makes them the ideal choice in mechanical applications that have a satisfying design among their requirements.
Applications of use of Aluzinc?
Due to its peculiarities, Aluzinc finds wide and heterogeneous applications in the world of industry and, in particular, in that of mechanical carpentry. Aluzinc plates are used:
- in the automotive sector, to produce car exterior and interior components;
- in the field of construction, to create walls, roofs, doors, ducts, and prefabricated structures of different types;
- within robotic plants, in the context of increasingly advanced industrial automation;
- in the agricultural sector, for the construction of ad hoc structures for cultivation or breeding;
- in the world of electronics and household appliances;
- in the field of lighting and advanced lighting systems;
- in any other application that requires the unique combination of lightness, strength, durability, versatility and malleability of Aluzinc.
Aluzinc sheets, among the core elmec machining
The quality and performance of Aluzinc are the reasons that have convinced us to include it among the materials that we process in the elmec production departments. Our mission to design and build mechanical devices in the service of electronics pushes us, in fact, to select only the most effective solutions and the high degree of technology, so that they can fulfill the promise of being really functional to the most sophisticated installations.
Our experience, combined with the ability to support the customer in every step of the path of product creation and creation, makes us a reliable partner for the protagonists of the most diverse industries, from HMI to energy management, from vision systems to home automation and much more.
Our mechanical solutions are always customized and highly competitive, both from a technical and economic point of view, and provide a careful choice of the most suitable materials for each individual project. In addition to Aluzinc, we also process stainless steel and aluminium laminates, copper, brass and pre-treated materials, while the processing of laminates is part of a wider production ecosystem, which also includes interventions on extruded profiles and CNC milling. In addition to our core processes, we can also offer each customer the possibility to carry out different treatments on their mechanical devices, such as surface finishes (tumbling, polishing, hoeing, chemical nickel plating etc.) and additional processing (bonding, molding, silicone and so on).
In our philosophy, therefore, the choice of Aluzinc as the material of choice always takes place after a careful analysis of your projects and the definition of all the steps that can help to maximize the performance of your electronic installations.
