An exclusive interview with our new mascot, Mecky
One of the most exciting things to happen in the ever-changing elmec universe in recent weeks has been the arrival of a very special colleague onto the team. His name is Mecky and the story of the journey that led him to us is truly fascinating.
So, who is Mecky? He is a workmate who is always brimming with enthusiasm, he is a mascot of our brand and he is a friend who shares the values that characterise our history. To fill you in on the details, we decided to ask Mecky to reveal more about himself.
Hi Mecky, how are you?
Hi! Great, as always! Thank you very much! It is an honour to be interviewed. To be honest, I’m also pretty excited.
Let’s start from the beginning: would you tell us exactly where you come from?
I was fortunate to have been born in an area extraordinarily rich in history, traditions, unique resources and a culture based on ingenuity and courage: I am talking about the splendid valleys of Brescia. The area has closely connected to metalworking, and has been able to make the most of its wealth to create specialisations capable of transforming Italy’s industrial fabric.
I have crossed these lands far and wide, learning all about metal mining and discovering the best artisanal activities of the area. Not only that: I have also delved into the extraordinary technological heritage that guides my valleys towards the future.
Why, then, did you decide to abandon the mines?
The answer is very simple: I am extremely curious by nature! I never stop learning and I am passionate about something new every day. Also, the excitement and dynamism of the Brescia valleys have taught me that there is always something more to do or experience.
For me, settling for second best is not an option and it is precisely following my desire to grow that I have experienced a thousand unforgettable adventures, until I met elmec: I couldn’t be happier with my path so far!
What did you find in elmec?
The company’s point of view was precisely the missing piece I needed to feel truly complete. What do I mean? That, right here, I discovered new perspectives and I finally understood how I could apply everything I had learned on my way. I experienced first hand the importance of the union between mechanics and electronics and the way in which the former can enhance and protect the latter to create something surprising.
Today I feel truly whole and I am very ready to use all my mechanical knowledge to work in synergy with the universe of electronics.
In addition, I liked the elmec team immediately: it was practically love at first sight.
What did you like about the team?
I met a team of people who share exactly the same values as me. We are all deeply attached to the place that bore us and we have an implacable desire to find new solutions to the problems we analyse.
Furthermore, it is clear that in elmec we all have only one mission: to create mechanics that expedite the evolution of the most advanced electronics.
Would you like to tell us “what you are made of”?
My answer would be enthusiasm, love of discovery and a spirit of initiative. But also commitment and a desire to give my best in every situation. If your question was intended literally: I have a heart made of electronic circuits and chips guarded by a mechanical metal armour created with the primary technologies of light carpentry.
What is your typical day in elmec like?
That’s a tough question, because every day here is full of new things! And that’s what I love about elmec: they never stand still here, just like me! In any case, my days pass between interesting discussions with the team, where we try to find the most efficient solutions to the most exciting and complex projects.
Every day I learn something new, thanks to new challenges and refresher courses that we often do all together. I also love chatting with clients, to find out about their projects and their point of view!
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Lying on a beach of superfine nuts and bolts, sipping cocktails.
Joking aside,, I have just defined my role in elmec and in the next few months I will be super active in the company: I am raring to go!
In addition to providing my local knowledge of the area and my mechanical skills,
I will also have a major task: I will be communicating with elmec’s public audience via email, website and social media. I can also make in-company visits if they want to meet me in person: it’s fantastic, isn’t it?
So how do I see myself in the future? I am very proud to be part of the team and ready to give it my best!
