Light precision metalwork in the service of electronics
The evolution of sectors which use light steelwork for their construction and functional objectives has led to an increasing specialisation of companies engaged in sheet metal working. Electronics is one of the industries which most requires the use of precision carpentry to create the most diverse structures.
It is used in robotics, vision systems, broadcasting, audio and video systems, lighting projects, railway infrastructure, HMI and the broad branch of industrial automation. These are sectors which elmec has been active in for years, always finding new production solutions to meet changing market needs.
The handling of laminates is one of our core processes: from design to cutting, from sheet metal bending to surface finishing, to the application of fasteners, every step of the process is handled thanks to state-of-the-art technology and the professional skills of our team.
Mechanical carpentry and electronics: a decisive connection
Sheet metalworking requires precision and solid know-how, especially when applied to a sensitive field like electronics. In fact, any installation using electricity, connections and circuits needs special functional characteristics, protection from external elements which could cause wear and tear and a high level of safety.
The design phase of mechanical devices for electronics allows an in-depth study of the customer’s needs, the requirements of the product and the challenges it will encounter during its life cycle. Once an efficient prototype has been developed, we move on to the actual machining, tackling crucial steps such as cutting and bending of the sheet metal.
In elmec’s production departments we have both CO2 and fibre laser punching machines, as well as manual and robotic press-bending machines. Their combined work can go so far as to define the design of even very complex objects of all sizes, intended for the most diverse operational functions. The application of PEM fasteners allows us to manage solid, yet flexible and adaptable fastening points for each application.
The final finishing touches then help to eliminate the imperfections resulting from machining and make the mechanical carpentry device more resistant to external aggression due, for example, to oxidation and corrosion. The result? Uniform, smudge-free products which are also efficient and long-lasting.
