Mechanics for electronics: which materials are suitable for your project?
Choosing the right material for your project is a fundamental step towards creating the right product for your needs.
Each project is different and requires different characteristics.
The material you use can have a major impact on the functionality, aesthetics and the economy of your project.
By way of example…
Aluminium alloys:
The right material if you’re looking for a light-weight material with an excellent aesthetic finish. Good heat dissipation and electrical conduction capability. Very versatile in laminate, extruded profile and milled part applications.
We use 5000 and 6000 alloys for the best balance between workability and surface yield.
Steel with zinc coating:
The right material if you’re looking for strength and value for money.
Offering good corrosion resistance, it is often used as a structural support for the internal parts of your electronic device.
Have you heard of Magnelis®?
An interesting alternative to pre-galvanised steel, with much higher corrosion resistance than the classic alternatives. We look forward to showing you how it can benefit your new project.
Stainless steel:
The right material if your product has to withstand harsh environments.
Offers strong corrosion resistance and toughness.
We also use the 430 stainless steel version, with a magnetising ferritic component that makes it suitable for applications which require shielding against magnetic fields.
Copper and brass:
Are you looking for excellent thermal and electrical conductivity? These are the materials for you.
Available in laminate, extruded or drawn profile, they can be adapted to any application.
Plastic materials:
When you need to combine a light-weight material with thermal and/or electrical insulation.
Polycarbonate, PVC and Plexiglass are just some of the options we offer. All these materials can be cut, milled and moulded to create the best shape for the application your electronic product needs.
